The Reality Shows in Spain, business or stupidity?

Since 2000, Spain started a way in the Reality Shows programs. The first was ‘Big Brother’, many post-teenagers living in a house, while every people out of the house can see their live. In second position was ‘Operación Triunfo’, a program where future stars of the song, live in an academy to learn the secrets of the best singing to be the best singer. Then; ‘Fama’, ‘Supervivientes’, ‘Generación NI-NI’…. An innumerable amount of programs in this way appears in Spain.  This Realities bring to the TV Channel a lot of benefits in money (callings and messages of the audience), but it has a dark side.

For example, Generación NI-NI. This Reality Show was a program of ‘La Sexta’ Channel. It consisted in the same of ‘Big Brother’. The volunteers live in the house; their actions are monitorized 24 hours a day. The ‘objective’ of the program is that the contestants learn social values and start to wake up in the modern world, but we don’t should cheat us…this is only a business. The contestants of this competition are young people which only activity in their true lifes is doing…nothing. Books and works don’t be friends of the contestants; they are lazy and stupid… people. In words of Spanish proverb: ‘The worst of each house’ (Lo peor de cada casa).

This people never wake up at 6 am to study for an important exam or to go to their work. I admit…I saw this Reality Show, but only one time, no more, I can not. In one program, the contestants must to put names in each of communities of Spain, locate cities in a map….I never have more shame in my life…anyone said a correct answer!!

In conclusion, ‘Generación NI-NI’ how every Reality Shows only look for ‘morbo’[1]. Yes, the people look for see the stupidity of a group of young people who never do anything in his life, who don’t know where are Castellón or Badajoz. In my opinion, Reality Shows could be effectives to study the modern society, but as TV program his principal objective is get an economic benefit, so Reality Shows are a business but , in my opinion, a stupid business.


[1] In Spain, the curiosity to see one thing no ethical, but it produces attraction to the audience.
